About Us

In February of 2013 LeJeanne Harris, Brittany Harris and Sareda McPhee, collected shoes in Baton Rouge and surrounding areas in hopes of providing young ladies with the perfect shoe for prom at NO cost.

As a result of the generosity of the shoe donors, sponsors, hair stylists, makeup artists and numerous volunteers and vendors 132 young ladies were provided free heels and 26 young ladies won various combinations of free hairstyling, make up application and nail services for prom.

The event offered a free premier shoe shopping experience for the young ladies. They also were given the opportunity to learn makeup application skills, pick up styling tips from local stylists, receive free undergarments from Jess’ Bra Closet, and win a number of door prizes including three complete prom makeovers. The background music for No Glass Slippers 2013 was provided by female disc jockey Amber “DJ Kelly Green” Brooks who volunteered her services to keep the tone fun and upbeat.

The trio feel the need for this type of event was confirmed by the overall success of the event and the overwhelmingly positive feedback and sincere appreciation expressed by so many of the young ladies and their mothers.
